  • Re-join network for water meter Zenner IUWS

    Hello,

We had a Zenner IUWS joining our LoRa gateway. After which it sent a few uplinks. However, the gateway has an inactivity monitoring feature, where devices that do not send at least one uplink every 12h are removed from the network.

Because the next uplink of the water meter was the daily consumption (24h latter), the gateway removed it from the LoRaWAN.

This occurred on the 24 of October: device joined at around 1 am, and was removed at around 13h. Since then the gateway has not received any new join requests.

How can we force the water meter to join again ?

Hi Nelson, if no other member will respond to this question soon who may already have experience with this: Due to the fact that we cannot deliver here real support, the best way would be also here to contact the ZENNER Support at support@zenner.com. There for sure you will get the needed answer. Maybe you can then also share the answer here with the others afterwards.

    Warm regards again

Asked Zenner’s support, and re-join is an operation that requires a manual intervention, via a mobile phone using NFC.

While I understand the rationale behind this, physical access to a water meter is not trivial. A better solution would be fo the water meter to use LoRa’s LinkCheck MAC command and re-join if necessary.

      Hi Nelson,

great to hear that you got the answer you needed, and thank you for sharing your valuable thoughts about the current procedure for rejoining an IUW/IUWS. As you’ve probably also shared this with ZENNER Support, it will certainly be taken into consideration for future development — if it isn’t already.

      Warm regards 🙋‍♂️
