<p>While I understand the rationale behind this, physical access to a water meter is not trivial. A better solution would be fo the water meter to use LoRa&#8217;s LinkCheck MAC command and re-join if necessary.</p>

<p>But its suprising that the manual says it uses big endian.</p>

<p>We had a Zenner IUWS joining our LoRa gateway. After which it sent a few uplinks. However, the gateway has an inactivity monitoring feature, where devices that do not send at least one uplink every 12h are removed from the network.</p>

<p>On the document &#8220;Lora radio packet definitions&#8221; v1.34, it states that big endian is used (chap 2.2, &#8220;If not specified differently, byte order will be MSB first.&#8221;)</p>
<p>And on the &#8220;IUW-IUWS User guide for system integrators&#8221; v1.9, there are some LoRa packet examples on page 41.
